CRK Obtains $5.9 Million Settlement from the Ohio State Teachers Retirement System on Behalf of College Professors
In December 2020, the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas approved a $5.9 million settlement in a class action lawsuit against the Ohio State Teachers Retirement System that CRK prosecuted on behalf of 8,300 professors from Ohio universities and colleges over an excessive charge collected in connection with their Alternative Retirement Plans. The settlement came after four years of intensive litigation that included successive efforts by STRS to have the case thrown out and an attempted appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court. The $5.9-million settlement represented a substantial portion of the overpayments CRK was challenging on the professors’ behalf.
