Jason R. Bristol’s unique practice has been covered by newspapers throughout the United States and featured in broadcasts ranging from America’s Workforce Radio to Chicago Public Radio’s This American Life. Crain’s Cleveland Business has recognized him in its “40 under 40” feature of the most up-and-coming professionals in Northeast Ohio. In 2010, Law and Politics Magazine recognized him as a “Rising Star” in plaintiff employment litigation.

Devoting a significant portion of his practice to federal and state wage-and-hour litigation, Mr. Bristol has represented thousands of employees in class, collective, and hybrid actions against some of the world’s largest corporations and recovered millions of dollars in unpaid wages. He routinely handles claims for misclassification, unpaid overtime compensation, unpaid minimum wages, off-the-clock work, unpaid preparatory and concluding activities, unpaid donning and doffing activities, unpaid on-duty meal periods, improper rounding practices, unpaid waiting time and unpaid travel time. He has handled national and statewide class actions in other fields as well, including cases involving employee benefits, consumer fraud, environmental contamination, and sub-prime mortgage devastation.

Mr. Bristol has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law since 2001, teaching an Administrative Law course on the Fair Labor Standards Act and a course in Advance Brief Writing & Appellate Advocacy. He has served as a Faculty Advisor to the school’s nationally-recognized Moot Court Team, and for that work was honored as the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Moot Court Alumni-of-the-Year for 2003-2004.

Active in civic affairs and politics, Mr. Bristol is a member of The City Club of Cleveland and serves on its New Leaders and Development Committees. He served as Campaign Manager for a state-wide candidate during the 2004 General Election, was actively involved in the 2006 campaigns of U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown and Ohio Governor Ted Strickland, and was elected a Delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention for Ohio’s 10th Congressional District. He is currently serving his second term as a Mayoral appointee to the Citizens Industrial Air Pollution Advisory Council.

He is a Life Member of the Eighth District Judicial Conference, and a member of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Joint Bench/Bar Civil Justice Improvement Committee. He belongs to the Cleveland Employment American Inn of Court, the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.

Mr. Bristol is a member of the Ohio bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He earned his law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2000, Order of Barristers, and his B.A. (with honors) from Bowling Green State University in 1997. While at Bowling Green, Mr. Bristol served for two years as a member of the University Board of Trustees.
